Wellington County fair ambassadors have sights set on the CNE

Four Wellington County youths will be competing in the 2017 Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) Ambassador of the Fairs Competition from Aug. 18 to 20. 

The Wellington County participants include:

  • – Megan Hill from Arthur;
  • – Lindsey Patterson from Erin;
  • – Quinn Wilson from  Harriston; and
  • – Calysta Kaye from Palmerston.

Each youth has won the ambassador competition at their local fair making them eligible to compete at the CNE.

Entering into its 46th year, the Ambassador of the Fairs Competition is a long standing tradition at the CNE that aims to promote, educate and celebrate Ontario’s rich history and heritage in agriculture.

History

This competition has seen more than 1,300 contestants from over 100 throughout the province compete for the exclusive year-long title of Ambassador of the Fairs, taking the winner across Ontario as a representative of the CNE and all agricultural fairs. 

Contestants are judged on a wide range of criteria, from their knowledge of the CNE and agriculture, to poise, personality and overall impression.

The semifinal competition will take place on Aug. 20 at 10am and the finals at 2pm in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
