Guelph-Eramosa hosting skatepark grand opening Aug. 3

Guelph-Eramosa Township is hosting a grand opening for the new Rockmosa Skateboard Park on Christie Street in Rockwood on Aug. 3.

Partial funding up to $116,550 for the park was made possible through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

“This funding from the federal government for recreational infrastructure in rural Ontario is welcome and needed,” said Mayor Chris White.

“The skatepark is a key addition to the Rockmosa Park expansion and will be enjoyed by the youth in our community for years to come.”

To celebrate, the township is hosting a grand opening at on Aug. 3 at 5pm.

The evening’s festivities will include a professional skateboarding show, bouncy castles, food trucks, beer garden, face painting, GRCA Creepy Critter Show, “Wild Ontario” live birds of prey interaction, time capsule burial and a live musical performance featuring The Practically Hip.

The evening will conclude with a movie in the park at dusk, sponsored by Tammysellsrockwood.com.

All members of the community are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
