An incident many on social media are calling a great prank appears to have drawn the ire of town and OPP officials here.
On June 20 pranksters mounted a Pan Am horse statue usually on display in McMillan Park on the roof of Erin District High School.
Principal Stephen Gayfer apologized to the Town of Erin on twitter later that day, saying, “Class of 2017 has some explaining to do… the horse will be returned.”
According to police the statue was removed in “the early morning” of June 20 by “a small group of suspects, believed to be all males in their late teens.”
They placed the statue on the roof of a small hatchback car, drove approximately one kilometre to the high school and hoisted the horse up to the roof using ropes.
“The horse was placed over top of the front entrance at the school, enabling staff and students to have a clear view of it later that morning,” police stated.
The OPP is asking anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
