4-H Engineering Club makes catapults

The 5th meeting of the Mimosa 4-H Engineering club was held on June 23.

Once all members had arrived, president Nadia opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge.

New business was discussed such as planning our club achievement night.  Some ideas included to partner up with another club to display what we learned and created.

Members then watched a slideshow on different types of catapults and the different forces acting on them.

After this, members split up into groups of two to four people.

Challenge

Our challenge was to make a catapult that could fling a ping-pong ball into a castle. This resembled a bean-bag toss game.

Materials provided included elastics, hot glue, popsicles sticks, and straws. When the time was done, all members tried their catapults.

All teams had fun. Members then cleaned up and Nadia closed the meeting with the 4-H motto.
