Historical essay contest winners announced

The Wellington County Historical Society’s annual Jean Hutchinson essay contest for 2017 featured the theme “Canada’s  150th – What it Means to Me.”

Winners in the junior division of the competition were: 1st Joshua Doupe of Belwood, 2nd Kate Wadsworth of Elora, 3rd Jonah Doupe of Belwood and honourable mention Hannah Wulff of East Garafraxa.

 In the adult division, the honours went to: 1st Silvana Sangiuliano of Belwood, 2nd Heather Gregory of Rockwood and 3rd Caroline Sealey of Mapleton.

The three independent judges were Judy Tuck of Harriston, Lorraine Ballard of Palmerston and Judy Howard of Rockwood.

The Annual Jean Hutchinson Essay Contest has been ongoing since 1943 and features a different topic each year.
