Guelph-Eramosa has a new bylaw enforcement and property standards officer.
In a shared 50/50 position with the Town of Erin, Alison Krueger began with both townships on April 10.
“She has over 15 years of experience as a municipal bylaw enforcement officer,” said Guelph-Eramosa clerk Amanda Knight at the April 3 meeting. “I’m excited to have her join our team.”
Hold removed
Council voted unanimously to remove the holding zone on the lands at the corner of Highway 7 and the township’s new Fellows Road.
“The subject lands are presently vacant and the intention of the holding zone is to restrict development on the property until such a time that vehicular access can be obtained,” Knight said.
Since the township took possession of Fellows Road in December, the property now has adequate access.
“Council should be aware that a future site plan application will still be required before any development can occur and the township doesn’t currently have the site plan application on file for this property,” Knight said.
Kurtz drain
Last fall all the directly affected owners around the Kurtz drain, near Ariss, agreed to have the maintenance and repair completed on the drain according to the township drainage superintendent, Knight explained.
Once clean out work on the McCrae drain was completed, the drainage superintendent had the contractor complete the work on the Kurtz “B” drain.
“Although council did not provide approval … the repair and maintenance of the Kurtz drain was completed at the end of 2016,” Knight said.
Council passed a bylaw assessing the work that was done for a cost of $6,116. The township applied for a grant from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, which is expected to be $1,859. The remainder of the fee will be provided by the benefiting property owners at a cost of $4,257.
Hillside Festival
Council deemed Hillside Festival a community event. The event is set to take place from July 14 to 16 at Guelph Lake Conservation Area.
Council also approved a noise bylaw exemption from 11pm to 1am for the duration of the festival. The festival offers five stages of music as well as food, crafts, a children’s area, workshops and more.
