The pirates are back for the second year.
The Pirate Festival is set to take place at the Royal Distributing Athletic and Performance Centre on Aug. 5 from 11am to midnight and Aug. 6 and 7 from 11am to 8pm.
“They held the event last year and apparently, it went over well and they’re hoping to have it again this year,” explained township clerk Amanda Knight at the March 6 meeting.
The pirate festival is a live-action interactive arts festival that offers theatre and music performances and artisans selling products.
“The Pirate Festival has a devoted audience following who look forward and plan for the event all year long,” festival organizers wrote in a noise bylaw exemption to council.
“The Pirate Festival brings in patrons from across Ontario, out of province and from the Northern United States. It is a great event for introducing people to the host community and their businesses.”
Noise exemption
Council approved a noise bylaw exemption for the Captain’s Keg on Aug. 5.
“It is one of the most looked-forward-to events of the Pirate Festival,” organizers stated.
Council approved the noise bylaw exemption from 11am to 1am on Aug. 5 and 11am to 8pm on Aug. 6 and 7.
“We’ve including in the recommendation that they be responsible for notifying residents within 300 feet of the property and also that staff will be submitting copy of the exemption to the OPP,” Knight said.
