The Fergus Force, the new Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League team, is looking for artists to design the team’s logo.
Force owner Marshall Uretsky is holding a design contest for artists to show off their talents.
The winner’s design will become the official logo of the Fergus Force to be used on all jerseys and merchandise. The winner will receive a team jersey, hoodie and season tickets for the 2017-18 season.
“I’m taking submissions probably for the next couple of months,” said Uretsky.
“I will personally shortlist to the five best … at which point I will advertise or promote those five logos to the community and seek for the community as a whole to select the winning submission.
“There are a couple of submissions already. I hope to have it out to the community by the beginning or so of May.”
Artists can submit their ideas online at fergusforce.com.
Recruiters in Canada and Europe are currently looking to fill the roster for the Force’s inaugural season. Uretsky added he will be attending midget and minor midget Centre Wellington Fusion games for local players.
“We’re right at the initial stages when the recruiting begins,” he said.
While filling the team, he is also looking for staff members to fill coaching, training and manager positions.
Uretsky is also looking to the community for families interested in billeting players, as well as for local players interested in joining the team, local charities to partner with, and vendors to participate in future game day flea markets.
There are almost seven months before the opening game, but Uretsky wants to fill positions by the start of the summer.
Sponsorship opportunities are available . Businesses that sponsor with $250 would get two season tickets, and advertisement opportunities. The sponsorship would offset a discount for local players.
“My main job right now is finding players, getting recruiters to send me players and start that process of filling our roster,” said Uretsky.
“In the meantime I’d like to hear from our community regarding everything from our local logo contest to potential billets and staff.”
