The Drayton Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is inviting interested local youths to participate in its first annual public speaking contest.
Participants are asked to write and present a three to five minute speech that explores a topic of their choice. One entry may be submitted for each participant.
The speech contest is divided into four age groups: primary (Grades 1 to Grade 3), junior (Grades 4 to 6), intermediate (Grades 7 to 9), and senior (Grades 10 to 12).
In order to participate in the senior category, speeches need to be between five and seven minutes. All speeches are to be the original work of the speaker, and visual aids, props, notes or cue cards may be used to support the speech.
For additional information or to register for the contest contact Mary Miller at marymillertime@gmail.com or Tim Dickieson at tim.dickieson@gmail.com.
All speeches will be presented at the Drayton Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (15 Elm Street in Drayton) on Feb. 18 starting at 1pm.
