This year marks the 10th anniversary of Hillside Inside. On the weekend of Feb. 9 to 12, Hillside Inside will continue the tradition of hosting concerts and workshops around various downtown Guelph venues.
This year the festival has expanded to Thursday night.
“We’ve planned concerts that showcase favourite Hillside performers from the past and incredible up-and-coming musicians,” organizers state.
February 9
The BROS, consisting of Ewan and Shamus Currie from The Sheepdogs, with a special guest yet to be announced will perform at Peter Clark Hall of the University Center in the University of Guelph at 9pm on Feb. 9.
This year Hillside Inside is joining forces with the University of Guelph’s CSA and UC Programming to bring BROS to Guelph.
BROS combines vintage funk and power pop.
February 10
Steve Poltz along with special guests Murder Murder will perform at Mitchell Hall, St. George’s Church at 9pm on Feb. 10.
A serious favourite amongst Hillsders, Poltz is a stand-out performer.
Joining Poltz from Northern Ontario is have Murder Murder, a full string band that blends bluegrass and country to put their unique spin on traditional murder ballads.
February 11
DJ Shub with special guests Lido Pimienta and HEAT will perform at 9pm at Mitchell Hall, St. George’s Church
DJ Shub boasts several Aboriginal Peoples ChoiceMusic Awards, a Juno award, as well as two DMC Canadian DJ Championship titles, a DMC Canadian Battle for Supremacy title, and more.
Returning for her second appearance at Hillside Inside, Lido Pimienta is fresh from releasing her second album this past fall.
The night is jammed packed and will also feature Montreal post-punks, HEAT.
February 12
On morning brunch will be offered with musician Begonia.
Brunch will begin at 10am with a show at 11:30am at Miijidaa Café & Bistro
The audience can only book a table in person at Miijidaa; seatings begin at 10am, show follows at 11:30am. Tickets are $25 plus HST, cash sales only. Each ticket includes your brunch and admission to the show.
This show is not included in the weekend pass.
Additional activities and performances
In the tradition that Hillside Inside has built, many events will take place throughout the weekend around the downtown core of Guelph.
For the fourth year now, the festival will feature the Girls and Guitars series in six downtown storefronts and showcase six female songwriters including Darlene Cuevas, Doris Folkens, and Evangeline Gentle.
On the morning of Feb. 11, young musicians and singer-songwriters will take part in the Youth Showcase at Planet Bean’s downtown location.

– admisson to BROS and special guest to be announced at Peter Clark Hall at University of Guelph, at 9pm, is $23.89 +HST/SC and special U of G student price of $19.46 plus HST/SC.
