Residents here are reacting with shock and sadness after two people were found dead in a Fergus home just four days prior to Christmas.
Wellington County OPP officers went to a house on Sideroad 18 near Beatty Line on Dec. 21 at about 9:30am and discovered the bodies of a man and woman.
Two days later, police confirmed what many in the community already knew: the deceased were residents Kimberly Nicklasson, 46, and Dwayne Nicklasson, 48.
It appears police were asked to check on the Nicklassons after they did not show up for work on Wednesday morning. Kim Nicklasson worked at the Howes and Reeves dealership in Fergus.
OPP officials did not release any other information about the deaths, except to say autopsies were performed by the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Hamilton.
While police continue to investigate the deaths, OPP officials have repeatedly stressed this was “an isolated incident” and that they “are not looking for suspects” and “there is no threat to public safety.”
Police did not respond to a Dec. 27 request for an update.
