Exciting additions to the First Night celebrations in Centre Wellington

New Year’s Eve will be a special one in Centre Wellington this year, thanks to its kickoff event First Night, celebrating the community, 2017 and a year-long celebration of Canada turning 150 year’s old.

The New Year’s Eve event, First Night will jump start the celebrations with a family-friendly event will take place in Fergus along the Riverwalk of the Grand River and downtown Fergus.

A stage will be set up beside the Fergus Library with live entertainment throughout the evening, with performances by:

– The Realtors

– 5 Live Rock

– Nick Gush &  friends

There will be activities for all ages including:

– Cards, board games and warm refreshments at Melville United Church.

– Colouring, refreshments and children’s activities at the Fergus Grand Theatre

– Selfies, 1867 style

– Canadian inspired crafts

– A special appearance by John A. MacDonald himself!

Many downtown Fergus merchants, pubs and restaurants will be open to ring in the New Year, offering great take out and drop in options.  

Warming stations will be made available at Melville United Church, the Fergus Grand Theatre and The Door.  

Hot beverages provided by Fraberts Fine Foods, Tim Hortons and participating merchants.

And no celebration is complete without fireworks!  First Night be showcase an amazing firework show with the first one taking place at 9pm followed by the finale at midnight.

Mayor Kelly Linton will be on hand to ring in 2017 with the community.
