At its Oct. 3 meeting, Guelph-Eramosa council deemed a section of MacGregor Lane and a section of old Highway 7 to be surplus. Both are located on the southwest side of the township.
One section will be between lots 3, 4 and 5 on MacGregor Lane.
The section that will be closed on old Highway 7 is between Lots 10 and 11 and part of lot 10.
In a report to council on Oct. 3 it was stated that staff spoke to the property owners who use each of the road allowances to access their respective properties.
For both the sections, “Once this unopened road allowance has been stopped up and closed, the lands will be conveyed to this adjacent property owner so that this does not restrict access to and from their property,” the report said.
The township will not be maintaining the portion of the road once the road allowance has been closed.
Parade of Lights
The township will once again be supporting the Rockwood Farmers’ Parade of Lights.
This year’s parade will take place on Dec. 8.
The township public works department will provide:
– approvals to close Highway 7 and Wellington Road 27 during the parade;
– insurance;
– a meeting to coordinate traffic control between the OPP, Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department and public works;
– notification to emergency services about closures;
– advance signage, road closed signs, detour signs, arrow boards, traffic barricades and traffic barrels; and
– parade closures of Highway 7 at Milton-Eramosa Townline, Highway 7 at the intersection of Wellington Road 44 and 4th Line Eramosa, and Wellington Road 27 at 124.
