Police and fire officials believe a fire that damaged a bridge on a trail near Palmerston was deliberately set.
On Aug. 6 at about 1pm, Minto Fire responded to a bridge on fire on the walking trail between Palmerston and Harriston.
The bridge is located between the 3rd Line and the 5th Line close to Wellington Road 5 (Whites Road).
The bridge sustained severe damage and had to be closed off. It remains closed for safety reasons.
“It was determined by Minto Fire and OPP the fire was deliberately set,” states Minto Fire on its website.
Damage is estimated to be over $50,000.
