Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) recently received three awards for its work.
The Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers (OACS) held its annual conference in Sudbury last month.
CSGW took top honors in the under 300,000 population division in two categories; best long video and best long radio.
The video submitted was in conjunction with Wightman TV, which produced and aired the program on its community channel. The segment featured unsolved crimes committed in the Wellington North area and coincided with Crime Stoppers Month in January 2015.
The radio submission was from August 2015, when program coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter marked the founding of CSGW with a birthday cake.
CSGW was further honoured with the Marla Moon Memorial Award of Excellence.
This award is presented to the program demonstrating outstanding work in multiple areas including; number of calls received, number of cases cleared, value of property recovered, value of illegal drugs seized, amount of rewards authorized, number of presentations made, special projects being completed, number of volunteer hours to the program, media coverage and special activities that create program awareness.
