4-H: Judging competition

On June 9 the Wellington County 4-H Judging Competition was held at Walkerbrae Farms just outside of Guelph.

Sixty-four members of all ages judged six classes and gave reasons on three of them. The classes were Dairy, Sheep, Maple Syrup, Quilts, Oats and the best class of all, Beef.

On behalf of the West Luther 4-H Beef Club I would like to thank Phil Wilman for providing the sheep, Gerald Townsend for providing the maple syrup, Shawridge Farms for providing the oats, Evelyn Near for providing the quilts and Walkerbrae Farms for providing the beef and dairy classes and for hosting the event.

I would also like to thank John Drummond for giving the official reasons on the dairy class, Aaron Hicks for the beef class, Matt Coffey for the oats class, Sarah Bryan for the sheep class, Evelyn Near for the quilt class and Mike Schill for the maple syrup class (even though I didn’t agree with all them).

The next meeting on June 20 was to be held at Shawridge Elevators just outside of Arthur.
