Police are looking for the public’s assistance and a local chamber of commerce is providing security tips after a couple businesses here were hit with break-ins.
Wellington County OPP received a report of a break-in to the Thrift Store on Main Street South in Mount Forest overnight from June 5 to 6, with the rear door being forced open. Nothing appears to be stolen.
Police also received a report of an attempted break-in at the Meat the Butcher Store on Main Street South sometime between June 4 and 6.
A recent email from the Mount Forest District Chamber of Commerce reminded local business owners to “keep valuables hidden, and keep little cash on hand” and to “double check doors and windows, and make sure … security alarms are functioning properly.”
Anyone with information about these incidents can contact police or Crime Stoppers.
