Part of Mill Street and south of the Grand River will be transformed into rural villages in Holland and France this week.
In late April, local business owners were provided notice about the filming of the TV documentary Black Watch on Mill Street West, Price Street and the Elora south ruins.
Both interior and exterior scenes were planned at these locations between the hours of 10am and 12am on May 4, 5, 6 and 8.
Official say parking on Mill Street West should not be impacted.
A notification by YAP Films Inc. indicated some of the scenes contain simulated gunfire. The OPP and Wellington County have been advised and none of the simulated gunfire will take place later than 11pm.
Additionally, Mill Street West and Price Street will be closed (between Metcalfe and Church Streets) on May 7 between 6 and 10pm. Pedestrian access to The Gorge Cinema will be maintained during this time.
Black Watch is a feature-length documentary about four Canadian soldiers who miraculously survived some of the most devastating battles of the Second World War.
This Canadian band of brothers belongs to The Black Watch – one of the most legendary regiments in Canadian military history.
Crews will be filming in and around Centre Wellington for the week. Many of the shoots will take place on property now owned by Pearle Hospitality.
Centre Wellington tourism and destination coordinator Deb Dalziel stated, “Pearle has been amazingly accommodating for this crew to take advantage of the historical stone ruins that can be used as a backdrop in this film.”
