The name says it all … The Confluence Nature and Heritage Festival.
On June 25, Elora hosts this free festival celebrating the natural environment and local heritage in a celebration of a “fragile clean water environment”.
This event coincides with the Elora Environmental Sculpture Festival.
The event takes part in Bissell and Victoria Park throughout the morning and early afternoon.
An Indigenous Drumming Presentation will kick off the day at 9am in Bissell Park.
The day of celebration will close with a Smudging ceremony at 1pm, also in Bissell Park.
Tents with tables providing the schedule of events can be found at Bissell Park and Victoria Park in Elora (behind the town hall).
Several activities will take participants down into the Gorge from Victoria Park.
Nature Activities
– Fish studies,
– Aquatic insect studies,
– Introduction to birding,
– Amphibians and reptiles,
– Rare plants of the gorge,
– Fly tying,
– Fly casting,
– Bluebird box building,
– Bee Next Construction.
Heritage Activities
– Conducted historical walk from Victoria to Bissell Park,
– Historical pictoral display at Bissell Park.
Children’s Activities
Fun water-based activities for children aged four to nine.
The event itself is a confluence of influences including: Save Our Water, Wellington Water Watchers, Yorklands Green Hub, The Council of Canadians and Ontario Streams.
