Eight members of the Superstars Baton Club competed in the annual New York Championship Competition this past weekend. Approximately 120 athletes from the United States and Canada were present.
Mackenzie Fraser, 8 of Arthur was first in visitor strut and solo, second in open strut, third in open solo and basic march and fourth in the Novice Rose Queen. She won the Juvenile Novice Can-Am Majorette Pageant.
Alyssa George, 12, of Fergus received first in 2Baton, fourth in strut, solo, 3baton and rhythmic twirl. She won the Advance PreTeen Can-Am Majorette Pageant and Beginner PreTeen Miss Rose Queen Modeling.
Hayleigh Homer, 13, of Fergus was second in basic march, strut, and 2Baton, She was also 7th in the Intermediate Can-Am Majorette Pageant.
Skylar Irwin, 13, of Arthur was first in visitor strut, secondin basic march, both solos and third in 2baton. She was also second in the Beginner Can-Am Majorette Pageant.
Paige Johnston, 8, of Arthur second in visitor strut, 2baton and solo, fourth in open strut and second in the Advance Rose Queen. She was also third in the Beginner Can-Am Majorette Pageant.
Shayla Logel, 11, from Elora was first in visitor strut, second in basic march, open and visitor solo and third 2baton, She was also second in the Novice Can-Am Majorette Pageant.
Elsie Post, 10, of Arthur was second in 2baton and third in strut and 3baton.
Makenzie Worton, 14, of Fergus first in solo and second in 2baton. She was second in the Intermediate Can-Am Majorette Pageant.
The duet team of Homer and Irwin placed first for their beginner duet performance while duet team of George and Worton also placed first for their Intermediate duet performance.
The team “Little Devils” received a first place finish out of five other teams. Members include: Homer, George, Irwin, and Post. The trio “Hot, Hot, Hot” placed second in their category.
The twirlers are trained by Krista DiStasi of Fergus. The members continue to prepare for the CNBTA Provincial Championships being held on May 7 and 8 in Kitchener.
