The Alton Mill Arts Centre is presenting Canadian theatre legend Nonnie Griffin in her one-woman show Marilyn – After on May 1 at 3:30pm in the Millrace Room at the Alton Mill.
The play imagines Marilyn Monroe coming back 50 years after her death to tell the audience about her life, her loves and her untimely passing.
Nonnie Griffin, the 82-year-old performer brings the late actress to life in an afternoon of shocking truths, mitigated by touches of wit and humor, for which Monroe was famous, organizers state.
“Marilyn Monroe continues to fascinate people of all ages, even some 50 years after her death,” Griffin said in a press release. “No other actress has held such a place in the affections of the public.”
This show is a fundraiser for KAMI for Haiti, a charity founded by Michele and Kathleen Jobin that produces stoves and jetropha oil in the northern community of Terrier-Rouge in Haiti.
Tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the door and are available at Booklore, 121 First St. Orangeville, or from Ann Lay at 519-940-3659.
A limited supply of tickets for Marilyn-After is also available at Gallery Gemma at the Alton Mill.
