Mennonite Savings and Credit Union (MSCU) will be changing its name to Kindred Credit Union.
The change was approved at a special general meeting of members in February. The launch of the new Kindred Credit Union brand will begin in June 2016 with a phased rollout expected to be completed by the end of the year.
“This decision by our members will allow us to sustain a vibrant credit union for generations to come. Kindred Credit Union is a name that is relevant to our current members and market research has indicated it is also attractive and welcoming to potential members,” said chief executive officer, Brent Zorgdrager.
The positive vote for the new name, Kindred Credit Union, is the culmination of a year-long collaborative process involving the credit union’s board, senior leadership, staff and members. With this new name the credit union will appeal to a broader audience, grow its community impact, and fulfill its purpose of offering cooperative banking that connects values and faith with finances, inspiring peaceful, just, and prosperous communities.
“The results of the vote are incredibly exciting and show that our members have not only embraced Kindred Credit Union as the new name for our credit union, they have also affirmed the vision for our future,” said Dale Brubacher-Cressman, board chair.
The transition to the new name will have limited impact on current members. More details will be shared with members over the coming weeks and months.
