McGinn traded to Anaheim Ducks

Fergus native Jamie McGinn has been traded from the Buffalo Sabres to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a conditional third-round pick in the 2017 draft.

If Anaheim advances to the Western Conference final Buffalo will receive a second-round pick.

McGinn has scored 14 goals and 13 assists in 63 games this season. The 27-year-old left winger makes $2.95 million.

Selected by San Jose in the second round of the 2006 NHL draft, McGinn has played 429 career NHL games with the Sharks, Colorado Avalanche and Sabres.

He has scored 13 career game-winning goals and 22 power-play goals over his eight NHL seasons. McGinn has also appeared in 29 career Stanley Cup Playoff games with San Jose and Colorado.

“Looking forward to starting my next chapter with the Anaheim Ducks,” tweeted McGinn after the trade announcement.
