The attempted theft of an ATM machine from the Manor Hotel clearly did not go as planned, but police say they have few clues as to who was responsible.
On Jan. 27 at 6:52am, Guelph Police received a call that a truck was being used to break in to the front doors of the Manor Hotel on Silvercreek Parkway South.
“Police arrived in the area to find the truck pulling an ATM on the ground as it drove onto Wellington Street heading west,” police stated in a press release. “The ATM released from the truck on Wellington Street just past the Hanlon Expressway overpass. The truck was last seen heading west on Wellington Street.”
Police say three suspects breached the doors to the building and used a chain to pull the ATM from its position with the truck, causing extensive damage to the building’s doors.
The truck is described as a dark-coloured crew cab four door with a short box, possibly a Ford F150. No damage is expected on the truck but it may have been dragging a chain, police say.
There is no description of the suspects. Anyone with information can contact Guelph Police at 519-824-1212, extension #7241. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit at www.csgw.tips.
