Ponsonby area residents will have a better place to play thanks to a Hydro One Power Play Community Investment grant of $7,500.
During a Jan. 18 Centre Wellington committee of the whole meeting Hydro One representative John MacDonald explained that Shirley Obergan applied for a grant for money for the Ponsonby park to help build a playground for children of the area.
“Hydro One at this time, we build lines and towers and poles … we have to get these things done for the communities,” said MacDonald.
“But this is a great time and way to give back to the children of your communities and help out with their health and to make it more accessible.” He appreciated groups like the Ponsonby Recreation Club “helping to create better places to live.”
Committee of the whole chair Mary Lloyd thanked Obergan on behalf of the community for applying for the grant. “It is significant dollars and we really appreciate you doing that.”
Lloyd also thanked Hydro One “for seeing the worthiness of Ponsonby. We truly appreciate your investment in the community.”
