The Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) has announced its support of 24-hour emergency messaging to Centre Wellington.
The Grand 101.1FM, a local not-for-profit radio station, in partnership with Centre Wellington Township, is leading this community initiative.
The station hosted the Grand Gala on Feb. 13 to raise awareness and funds for this important cause.
Attendees had a five-course dinner, participated in both live and silent auctions and were entertained by MC (and radio host) Mark Paine, before they danced to live music by The Lucas Rogerson Band.
In addition to ticket sales and auction bids, which contributed to the monies raised, the CWCF provided a grant of $5,000 to support the emergency communications system project.
One of the community foundation’s primary mandates is to help match donors with community needs.
In this case, two funds recently established by local Centre Wellington residents – the Kate and Margot Community Fund and the Middlebrook Community Fund – contributed $2,500 each to this grant.
The Kate and Margot Community Fund, supports a broad range of charitable activities, especially those with significant volunteer commitment, and the Middlebrook Community Fund aims to support a broad spectrum of initiatives focused on the local community.
