Performance Ensemble of Canada performing send-off concert

On Feb. 7, at 2 pm, the Performance Ensemble of Canada will be dazzling their River Run Centre audience with fiery Run Centre audience with fiery bow work, warm string sounds and stunning choreography, officials state.

The group is composed of 53 young musicians from Suzuki music schools in Guelph, Etobicoke, Kingston and Montreal, and 13 dancers from the Guelph Youth Dance Company. Their ages range from 11 to 19 years old.

They are preparing to go on a tour of China organized by the League of Astonishing Strings. The tour will take place from March 10 to 20, and is a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience for the participants, and their music and dance schools, officials state.

The students have been working since September towards this adventure.

Their last intensive joint rehearsal workshop before going on tour will be in Guelph on the weekend of Feb. 5 to 7, and will culminate in this China Tour Send-off Concert.

Tickets are available at the River Run Centre box office at 519-763-3000 or at www.riverrun.ca.

The groups are now involved in a fundraising campaign to keep costs as low as possible for the participant’s families.
