Every year, the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington goes on the hunt for a seasonal home for the Adopt-A-Family program, relying on the generosity of a local business to provide a donated “Santa’s Workshop”.
Given this annual uncertainty, the Children’s Foundation was thrilled when Wellington Motors confirmed this fall that the Adopt-A-Family program could return to the 492 Michener Road site for the second year running.
“It’s a bit of a worry every year as to whether a holiday hero will step forward in time to save the day,” says program coordinator, Karyn Kirkwood. “What a tremendous gift it is to us and our incredible volunteer team to be able to set up the workshop in the same place two years in a row. Last year, we were able to help close to 900 families during the holidays and being in such a fantastic space plays a huge part in making that happen. We are very grateful to Wellington Motors for their ongoing support”
Wellington Motors is celebrating their 75th year in business, and being charitably involved in the community through sponsorships, events and personal commitments is just one of the contributing factors to their longevity.
“We believe in supporting our customers and the community, through good, honest service,” said Ted Woods, president of Wellington Motors. “We’re happy to be able to provide a home again this year for the Children’s Foundation’s Adopt-A-Family program. It’s not often you get to play Santa and be a holiday hero.”
The Adopt-A-Family program is in full-gear helping families in need this Christmas.
