The Guelph Concert Band, under the direction of Dr Chris Cigolea, invites the community to a concert called Poppies and Poinsettias to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of John McCrae’s In Flanders Fields poem and the sounds of Christmas.
The feature work will be Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, which is sure to raise the roof.
Guests will include the Honourable William Winegard, former Guelph MP, and the Grand Philharmonic Children’s Choir from Kitchener.
The concert is at 3pm on Nov. 29 at Harcourt Memorial United Church, 87 Dean Ave, Guelph. Tickets can be purchased from band members or at the door: adults cost $15, seniors and students pay $10, eyeGO and children cost $5.
There will be a silent auction and snacks at intermission.
