The Centre Wellington Dog Owners Group (CWDOG) planted 50 new trees in the dog park here on Oct. 30 as a result of a generous donation from Yard Weasels Inc.
Thirty volunteers gathered to plant saplings around the perimeter of the property.
“The weather was absolutely perfect for the tree planting project and the spirit of comradery with the other dog owners was inspiring,” said Karen Hurson, who organized the planting project.
The donation of 50 trees came from local company Yard Weasels Inc. based in Fergus.
The family-run business contributed deciduous trees such as oaks and maples as well as evergreens.
This project was made possible due to the support from Rachael Bell, Doreen Gill, Karen Hurson, Lynne Vandoormaall and KarenWatson.
Other members of the dog park community assisted in this initiative on site which made it a very successful day.
The new trees will be a welcome addition to the park landscape adding shade, windbreaks and colour.
Providing new trees to the green space is an important part of maintaining a healthy park for dogs and their owners to enjoy for years to come.
