Training sessions announced for entrepreneurship competition

The Saugeen Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) partnered with the Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation (BCFDC) to deliver the Hawks’ Nest, a Dragons’ Den inspired competition where entrepreneurs from various sectors will pitch their business ideas in an attempt to secure financial support from local angel investors (the “Hawks”).

The competition is open to those interested in starting, expanding or diversifying a business in Grey, Bruce, Wellington North or Minto.

Prospective competitors must attend one of four free training sessions to receive assistance with preparing or revising their business plans.

“You could end up being one of seven competitors who get to ‘pitch’ their big idea to the Hawks,” states a press release from the SEDC and BCFDC.

The training sessions will take place from 9am to 5pm on:

–  Nov. 27 at Kincardine Lake Huron Learning Centre, 385 Queen Street, Kincardine;

– Dec. 1 at  Owen Sound Days Inn and Conference Centre 950 6th Street East, Owen Sound;

– Dec. 2 at Harriston library basement, 88 Mill Street, Harriston;

– Dec. 10 at Saugeen Economic Development Corporation (Limited to 15 individuals) 515 Mill Street, P.O. Box 177, Neustadt.

The business plan/application deadline to be a Hawk’s Nest candidate is Jan. 15 at 3pm.

A televised event will be held at the Kincardine Pavilion on June 21.
