Inspiration concert draws big names

Organizers are promising a spectacular line-up for the third annual Inspiration concert, to be held Nov. 12 at 7pm at Guelph’s River Run Centre.

Inspiration is an annual fundraiser in support of the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington (CFGW) and features aspiring local music students together with acclaimed musical artists known locally, across the country, and worldwide.

To be as accessible to the community as possible, tickets for this family event are just $15. Proceeds from Inspiration go to the CFGW’s Free to Play Program that provides financial assistance to eligible children and youth who want to learn about or enhance their skills in music, dance and art activities.

Inspiration features more than 100 performers in vocal, instrumental, and dance numbers. Featured performers will include: Grammy award-winning, world renowned baritone Gino Quilico O.C.; Guelph-born singer-songwriter Nefe, winner of the 2014 RBC Emerging Artist Music Mentorship Program; accordion sensation Joe Macerollo O.C.; celebrated gospel singer Michael Austin Harris; dancers from Guelph’s Celtic Academy; members of the Guelph Youth Symphony Orchestra; the Guelph Youth Singers Chamber Choir; trumpeters Chris Cigolea and Nathaniel Gibson; and from local schools the St. John’s Kilmarnock jazz band; and Our Lady of Lourdes band and choir. A mixed program promises an evening to entertain and inspire. A silent auction will also take place.

Special guests will include Justin Hines, to whom the 2015 Inspiration event is dedicated. An accomplished singer-songwriter, Hines has a joint dislocation condition called Larsen’s syndrome and uses a power wheelchair. In 2013 he toured North America giving 100% of ticket sales back to over 70 charities, including KidsAbility in Kitchener.

Brenda Gibson created Inspiration in 2013 as a way for the community to help our next generation of artists and musicians.

“Right in our own backyard we have many families with young people eager to explore their creative side but they don’t have the means for lessons or training. Inspiration aims to help these local budding artists who need a helping hand,” explained Gibsonin a press release. “And we’re fortunate to have the Children’s Foundation to connect kids to opportunities for expressing themselves creatively.”

Tickets are only $15 for this one-night only event. Visit www.riverrun.ca or call 519-763-3000 for more information.
