The province is developing it’s first culture strategy to formulate a vision for arts and culture in Ontario and identify priorities and actions to guide the government’s support for the sector in years to come – and they want to hear from area residents.
The Ontario government has launched province-wide public consultations called ‘Culture Talks’.
The purpose of these discussions is to obtain input into the culture strategy.
This is the first time there has been a provincial conversation with Ontarians on the value of arts and culture in their lives and communities. Consultation will run until Dec. 7.
Culture Talks are designed to help the Province establish what Ontarians value about arts and culture; identify opportunities to better meet the needs of the arts and culture sector; and ensure that the government’s policies and programs reflect Ontario’s diverse populations and communities.
There are several ways to participate:
– read and comment on the prepared discussion paper;
– attend one of the town halls from now until December 7 and/or;
– join the online conversation at Ontario.ca/culturetalks.
On this online forum residents are invited to share thoughts about Ontario arts and culture, discuss topics with other participants and vote on their ideas.
Centre Wellington will be sharing our culture priorities with the Province in each of the ways mentioned above.
Centre Wellington’s Community Advisory Committee (formerly Parks, Rec and Culture Committee) will also be participating in a discussion to bring forward their comments and feedback as well as that of the groups and organizations they represent to be shared with the Province.
