Since early September volunteers have been busily collecting, sorting and displaying the huge selection of books, CDs, DVDs, LPs, VHS tapes, puzzles and games that have been donated to the Friends of the Guelph Public Library’s used book sale.
The ninth annual week-end-long sale begins Oct. 23 from 6 to 9pm at the former JL’s Home Hardware store on 389 Speedvale Ave. West. On Saturday and Sunday its open from 10am to 4pm.
It’s free admission every day, but for a $10 fee visitors can be an “early bird” shopper from 1pm to 4pm Friday afternoon.
There is so much to choose from and everything is easy to find – adult fiction and non-fiction books, children’s, graphic novels, comics, multi-media, games and puzzles.
Most items range from $1 to $3 except for individually priced special and antiquarian books and DVD sets as well as some of the 15,000 children’s books that start at 25 cents.
An anonymous benefactor has made a generous donation so that each child coming to the sale can receive a $1 gift certificate.
