Community foundation invites residents to launch of Vital Signs Report

The Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) is wrapping up some exciting projects and would like to share them with the community.

Vital Signs report launch

The foundation invested in the Vital Signs project, a Community Foundations Canada program designed to take the pulse of the community and help identify key areas where action and attention are needed.

After a thorough consultative process, which examined the areas of gap between rich and poor, leadership and belonging, and arts and culture, members of the CWCF are happy to report that the results are imminent.

The insight derived from this process will provide the information to set community priorities and identify opportunities for action in Centre Wellington.

The Foundation is excited to launch, in tandem with sister community foundations across the country, the Centre Wellington Vital Signs report.

Come and be some of the first to hear highlights of the report, held on Oct. 6 at 8am in the Aboyne Hall at the Wellington County Museum and Archives.

RSVP would be appreciated by email to info@cwcfoundation.ca.

CWCF mini-grant recipients

With equal excitement, the foundation would like to recognize the ten recipients of the mini-grant program for the 2015 year.

James McQueen Public School received $1,000 to support their Levelled Reader Books project, which was generously supported by the Kath Hammond Literacy Fund.

The Guelph Children’s Foundation ($1,000 for its “Sunshine Squad”), Big Brothers Big Sisters ($1,000 for “Go Girls!”), Fergus Elora District Soccer ($500 for special needs soccer) and John Black Public School ($500 for social network safety) all received grants supported through the community fund.

The Fergus Horticultural Society ($500 for Templin Gardens signs) and the Community Resource Centre ($1,000 for “Let Kids Play”) each received support from the Kate and Margot Fund.

Additionally, the Fergus BIA ($1,000 for the Love Lock Gateway), Emmanuel Christian School ($1,000 for Music Chimes Fundraising) and Elora-Fergus Tourism ($1,000 for event resources) all received support for Arts and Culture through the Cedarcliff Fund.

One of the CWCF goals has been to help the community move forward both by growing capacity through grant-making activities and convening conversations.
