Waterloo railway receives $66,000

The Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society received $66,000 as part of the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program on July 31.

The funds will be used as part of a $220,000 Waterloo Central Railway (WCR) project to construct a heritage replica train station at the St. Jacobs Farmer’s Market.

This announcement is one of many for projects approved through the program that will improve and preserve community spaces across southern Ontario, with the aim of giving back to Canadians and creating a lasting legacy as Canada prepares to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, states a press release announcing the funding.
