The Wellington Artists Gallery, in Fergus is hosting its annual Juried Art Show and Sale and the submission deadline is Aug. 22.
The gallery welcomes submissions from all artists, emerging and well established. This annual juried exhibition of fine arts accepts: collages, drawings, paintings, ceramics fibre art, glass, jewelry, metal, sculpture, wood and photography.
Entry forms are available for pickup at the Gallery (6142 Wellington RD 29, RR4 Fergus), or may be requested by emailing wellingtonartistsgallery@outlook.com or by phoning 519-843-6303, Wednesday to Sunday, between 11am and 5pm. The entry form can also be downloaded from http://www.theartmap.com/call-to-artists/call-for-entry-wellington-artists-gallery.
The entry fee is $25, for up to two pieces of work.
Submission images must be emailed to wellingtonartistsgallery@outlook.com. Images must be 300 dpi and 1000 pixels on the longest side.
Notification of accepted work will be emailed on Sept.11. Artists must deliver accepted artwork on Sept. 26 or 27, between the 11am and 5pm.
The opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Oct. 3, from 2 to 4pm. The exhibition runs from Oct. 1 to 28.
John McGill, chair of the gallery, said he looks forward to the upcoming show.
“With the success of our opening show earlier this year, the annual juried show promises to showcase the enormous talent of regional artists,” he said in a press release. “This is a great opportunity for artists in the area to participate in a local juried art show and sale.”
This year’s jurors include Richard Marvin, Jim Reed and Phil Dietrich.
Marvin is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD). He taught at OCAD for 14 years and is a past president of the Association of Illustrators and Photographers.
Reed has experience in jurying various shows, such as the annual Insights show in Elora. He studied under the mentorship of Corbett Gray as well as other influential artists. His works are in the collections of the Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA).
Dietrich is currently the museum technician at the WCMA. He is an artist, sculptor, graphic designer, carpenter, theatrical set designer, historian and writer. Dietrich attended the OCAD, studying sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking and bronze foundry casting.
