The Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA) invites all art enthusiasts, fans of great music and anyone who’d like to get a little hands-on creative to join with over 35 artists in the ECFTA yard on July 4 and 5.
The 13th Annual Art in the Yard event is hosted in the ECFTA garden and draws visitors from around the township, the county and southern Ontario. A recent recipient of the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce award for Cultural, Arts, Tourism Impact, this year’s show will not disappoint.
Sarah Gardiner, event coordinator for Art in the Yard 2015, shares with us that, “The quality of the artists accepted into the show for 2015 is really wonderful. It’s a great mix of new and familiar faces, with lots of local Wellington County artists as well as some from Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto and beyond.”
One of the returning artists is Natali Baird, a glass maker who’s studio is in Guelph. During last year’s Art in the Yard, her work was selected by ECFTA volunteers as the winner of the Volunteer’s Choice award.
“Art in the Yard is an amazing show. It’s in a beautiful setting, the food is exceptional, there are phenomenal artists there and I always come home with great trades. I love seeing the kids with their fairy paraphernalia. Best part for me are the fantastic people of Elora and Fergus, they really love art,” Baird said.
Young artists (and the young at heart) are also invited to explore their creative inspirations in the free Children’s Creative Area. It’s full of magical opportunities and lots of supplies to help kids try some different art disciplines.
In the afternoons, the garden will be filled with live music by artists of the Elora Acoustic Café sponsored by The Grand 92.9 FM, and great food will be served all day by the team at Fergies Fine Foods of Fergus.
Art in the Yard takes place July 4 and 5, at the Elora Centre for the Arts (75 Melville St, Elora).
