Juno-nominated Peter Katz returns to Fergus

After playing to a nearly sold out crowd three years ago, acclaimed singer-songwriter, Peter Katz returns to the Fergus Grand Theatre as part of his European and Canadian full band album release tour.

Katz spent April playing shows in the Netherlands, Germany, England and Switzerland and then toured across Canada in May, wrapping up the month with a sold-out show at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre Theatre.

Fergus is a special place for Katz and a growing group of loyal fans look forward to hearing his newest songs.

The new album, We Are The Reckoning, is a collection of 11 original songs. After three successful national and international tours in support of his 2012 release Still Mind Still, Katz spent the better part of the past two years writing more than 50 new songs while collaborating on some of them with an impressive list of co-writers in Los Angeles, London, and at home in Toronto (a new approach for Katz who had always typically written alone).

His hard work paid off when he attracted the attention of co-producers Royal Woodand and Bill Lefler who signed on to help him turn those songs into Katz’s most sonically-rich album to date.

He also attracted an impressive list of guests to join him on the album, including rising Scottish star Rachel Sermanni, legendary lapsteel player Ben Peeler and Felicity Williams to name a few.

Wood lent his vocal support in Katz’s first single from the album. The song, Brother, was a fixture on the CBC Radio Top 20 for several weeks.

“I had such a wonderful time playing at Fergus Grand Theatre a couple of years ago … [I] felt like I had discovered a little hidden gem,” Katz said.  “I’m excited to bring the full band show this time around.  This will be the second last show of our tour. We’ll be in our best form and savouring the moment, bittersweet that it will be one of our last on this run.”

The show will take place on June 19 at the Fergus Grand Theatre. Doors open at 7:30pm with music starting at 8pm.   Tickets are $27 and are available at the box office by calling 519-787-1981 or by visiting www.fergusgrandtheatre.ca.
