Swimplex repairs may continue into summer

Repairing a breach in a vapour barrier is apparently no easy matter.

Managing director of community service Brian Detzler offered assurance that the entire Centre Wellington Sportsplex facility remains safe and open for use while the problem is repaired.

Detzler noted that during work to repair the vapour barrier around the aquatic façade it has become apparent that moisture has also breached the roof of the facility.

The work will continue for the next several weeks and will carry in to the early summer.  Things are progressing as they should and the Contractor is taking all the necessary steps to ensure a safe and efficient job site.

Some of that work has required the temporary removal of the brick facade.

He added appropriate investigative work has been performed and now the appropriate actions to remedy this issue are being planned.  This additional item will contribute to the length of time to complete the vapour barrier repairs and bring the building to appropriate operational standards.
