Spring Awakes supports old growth forest

The forest will be full of surprises – blossoming flowers, trees leafing out, birds singing, music, singing, dance, poetry, and more, all in celebration of the return of spring and the ongoing ecological restoration of the Ignatius Old Growth Forest on May 24.

SKSS Productions has invited a number of performing artists and volunteers to collaborate in the Spring Awakes adventure.  Performers  include Fiona McCairley with Mika and Ailsa McCairley-Greenwell,  Gary Diggins,  the Sun Singers with Carey West, Tannis Slimmon, Jeff Bird, members of Henry Muth’s Grade 7 class from Trillium Waldorf School, Ondine Chorus, Sarah Boyer, Colin Couch, Peg Evans, Neal Evans, Lucas Tensen, and more.

The event is a fundraiser for the Old Growth Forest Project. Every $20 raised helps to protect 1 square metre of land which will grow trees into perpetuity.

Admission is by advance ticket only. Tickets are on sale now at Janus Books in Guelph. Adults $25,  children admitted free, must be accompanied by a ticketed adult

Ticket holders are to meet in the Orchard Park Parking lot at 1:15p, on May 24. A pot luck picnic will follow the hike.  For more information on Spring Awakes! to info@suesmith.ca or call 519-837-2303. For more information on the Old Growth Forest Project go to www.oldgrowthforest.ca
