Centre Wellington Singers set for spring concert

It has been a busy winter session for the 50-plus members of the Centre Wellington Singers as they prepare for the May 2 spring concert, The Spirit of Folk.

Despite frigid temperatures, blowing snow and even a flood problem at the practice venue, the spring concert preparation continues, officials state.

In September of 2014 Emily Petrenko, also director of the Elora Youth Singers, joined the Centre Wellington Singers as the musical director. Under Emily’s guidance choir members have revisited folk songs in our music library and embrassed new challenging pieces. The Spirit of Folk concert will take audiences on a musical journey from the east coast of Canada, through the forests of Quebec, to the plains of the Prairies, to many rivers of Canada and over the pond to Scotland, even briefly landing south of the border.

The concert will be held at Elora United Church at 3pm.

“The support of the community is essential to the very existence of the CW Singers. Such community support has enabled this non-auditioned community choir to perform and entertain for almost two decades. Come and enjoy the repertoire – and if you are inspired, we welcome additional members. Come and sing with us in September 2015,” choir officials state.

Tickets. are $ 15 for adults, and $5 for those 12 and under and may be purchased from choir members or at the door, or reserved by calling 519-843-5419.
