Parkbus project granted funding to implment first stage this summer

The idea of a Parkbus was first pondered by Fergus Elora Tourism last October. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport recently approved funding for the first stage of the proposed Parkbus South project this summer.

Parkbus is a non-profit initiative providing express bus service to key outdoor destinations in Ontario. One potential route would be from Toronto to the Elora Gorge Conservation Area with a stop downtown.

Parkbus would be an opportunity for international tourists, students and new Canadians to explore the world outside the GTA, officials state.

The potential is there for Elora residents to use the service for easy access to Toronto.

Fergus Elora Tourism reports that discussions are in their infancy.

“While the program will start small, but we are thrilled to have the opportunity.”
