Everyone is invited to the opening of the latest artworks by Goran Bengtsson on April 9 a 7pm at The Cafe Creperie, 40 Mill St. West, Elora. The show will run until May 7.
Bengtsson was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and after being admitted to Konstfack University College of Art and Design in Stockholm, he graduated in 1968.
He taught art and art history at high schools, art schools and universities.
In 1975, he started a new department for teaching aids for the Swedish government at the Kenya Science Teachers College in Nairobi, Kenya, and taught there until 1978. In 2000 he retired as an art teacher and historian.
Bengtsson is represented in public and private collections in Sweden and internationally. In 2005 he moved to Canada, and was so inspired by the landscapes and beauty of this country, he decided to make his home here in Elora, and once again turned to his love of painting. He has since travelled throughout Canada and the U.S. and has participated in numerous shows, especially at the juried art show at the Mark Twain Gallery in Connecticut, U.S. and the juried Insights at the Wellington County Museum. His main medium is oil.
The show will also feature photographs by Brian Johnson, long time resident of Fergus, who transpires us into the world of spring with his spectacular, and colourful works.
