Erin Theatre’s production of Ravenscroft is a little different than its last two productions of Steel Magnolias and Calendar Girls.
Ravenscroft opens April 9 at Centre 2000.
It is a dark comedy with mystery, intrigue and eccentricity. Set in a rural English estate in 1905, a handsome man has been found at the bottom of the stairs. Five female residents of different ages, stations and temperaments try and attempt to toy with the gallant Inspector Ruffing as he attempts to discover the truth about the man.
Carol Beauchamp plays the lusty, aristocratic lady of the manor with Erin’s Paulina Grant as her rather unusual teenage daughter.
Marcy, the aloof yet vigilant governess, is played by Laura Schnablegger. Carol McCone is Mrs. Danveresque, the housekeeper, and Grant’s real mother, Denise Rowe, plays the simply flustered country girl maid.
Into the midst of that is Chris Reid as Inspector Ruffing of Scotland Yard, caught in a web of intrigue.
Performances begin on April 9 at 8pm, but the official opening is April 10. All of the proceeds from opening night will be donated to the SSC 242 Erin Air Cadets, who will be ushering at many performances.
Theatregoers can also investigate the dinner and theatre and brunch or lunch and theatre specials offered by local restaurants.
This year there will be special treats available for purchase before the show and at intermission. Another local restaurant is offering a discount to Erin Theatregoers (excluding alcohol) on both Fridays of the run.

Matinees at 2pm are on April 12 and 18.
There is a matinee at noon and 4pm on April 11, Red Hat play day.
