Rezoning allows expanded use for Officer”™s Auto Care

Wellington North council has no objection to a rezoning allowing a Mount Forest business a chance to expand his business.

On March 9, Wellington North Township councillors reviewed a proposed rezoning of a 1.6-acre property at 210 Industrial Drive – Officer’s Auto Care Inc.

Changing the zoning from industrial to industrial exception would allow additional uses for the property so that in addition to auto repairs and emission testing, the owners would be permitted the accessory uses of automotive sales and auto cleaning.

Wellington County planner Linda Redmond said the application is to recognize an accessory use on the site.

The applicant wants to sell cars as accessory to that use.

Redmond agreed such a use is typically directed to a commercial area, but as an accessory use to the existing operation, the planning department had no issue with the proposal.

Councillor Steve McCabe had no problem with someone wanting to expand a business.

“I don’t know why we would stand in the way of that.”

Councillor Sherry Burke agreed.

“I think it is great to see an entrepreneurial business in Wellington North looking to expand.” She added, “It would be nice to see more of these come to the table.”
