Students from three area high schools were recognized for their efforts at the Sears Ontario Drama Festival held at John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute here from March 2 to 5.
The director and cast of the Norwell District Secondary School production, Selfie, were recognized with merit awards for using creative imagery to tell a story. Norwell cast member Ben Wideman also received an acting award.
An acting award of merit also went to Jack Lindsay, of Erin District High School, for his performance in Who Am I This Time?
Erin students Tori Bennet, Shayla Gomes and Jessica Bertrant received an excellence award as a triple threat in choral work for their performance in Chromium Throne.
Emma Martin and Lizzie Song, of Centre Wellington District High School, received a merit award for their on stage relationship as an acting duo in the school’s production of Where We Are.
Centre Wellington’s Callie Johnston was recognized for visual impact in costumes and makeup for the school’s production of Level One.
Productions that will be moving on to the regional event to be held in Barrie the week of April 13, are Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute’s The Ding Dong Theory, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School’s Apostrophe’s and John F. Ross’ The Actor’s Nightmare.
