Chamber promotes trip to Ireland

On Feb. 10 a crowd of 20 enthusiastic travellers gathered in the St. John Ambulance training centre to hear about a coming trip to Ireland that the Centre Wellington Chamber is organizing.

“A few years ago the travel companies started to attend the Ontario and Canadian Chambers of Commerce conferences as sponsors and offer group travel to the chambers..  They generally offer a cost savings of 10–15% over other options available.” says chamber general manager Roberta Scarrow.

In 2011 and 2012 the CW Chamber organized/provided trips to China with about 50 people. The experience was well received by all even though it was a very long flight.

In 2014 a smaller group travelled to Panama for nine days.

This year the board of directors felt the Ireland trip offered by Indus Travel was a good  value for our members.  Indus Travel is based in BC but works globally.

The chamber will again  partner with Noecker Travel in Elora for the bookings.

Harish Shroff of Indus Travel provided a presentation and answered many questions about the proposed trip.

Some of the highlights will include one night’s stay at Dromoland castle and a dinner at Bunratty Castle.

Indus is offering an optional networking meeting with two chambers of commerce in Ireland, or spend time at leisure.

Travelling with other local residents also offers an opportunity to develop new friendships.

For some businesses this could be a connection they have wanted to make – a great way to blend business and pleasure.” says Scarrow.

The group is scheduled to depart on Sept. 23 for nine days.

The group needs at least 25 passengers and a number of seats have already been booked. If a trip to Ireland is on your bucket list – call 519-843-5140 or check out the chamber website at www.cwchamber.ca
