Guelph Civic Museum has announced a call for an In Flanders Fields centennial commemoration art exhibit. This juried show will be installed in the third floor temporary gallery of the museum, where it will be on display throughout the spring and summer of 2015.
The exhibition is open to residents of the City of Guelph and Wellington County who produce two and three-dimensional works in any media, including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, fiber, textiles, jewelry, sculpture and pottery.
A maximum of two original artworks may be submitted by each artist: submissions exceeding two works will not be considered.
Works for this call must address the theme of Remembering In Flanders Fields, must be ready for hanging and fit through a 6.5ft by 4ft entrance. Any technical needs for works must be provided by the artist.
Submissions should include the following information:
– Title, artist name, dimensions (with frame), media, city, phone and email; and
– Attach an excellent quality .JPEG image file titled as follows: artist name, piece name.jpg.
Applications may be submitted to the Guelph Civic Museum by email to jessica.gibson@guelph.ca. and must be received by no later than March 1 at 11:59pm.
Late submissions will not be considered.
Participating artists will be notified of their selection by phone March 16. Selected works are to be delivered to the Guelph Civic Museum March 24 between 10am and 5pm or by arrangement with Guelph Civic Museum. Following the exhibition, works must be picked up on Aug. 10 or by arrangement with Guelph Civic Museum.
Selected artists will receive an exhibition fee of $131 and an invitation to an exhibition reception at the museum on March 27.
Deadline for submissions is March 1 at 11:59pm. The exhibition runs March 27 through Aug. 9. A reception will be held at the museum March 27 from 7 to 9pm.
