Local artists are being invited to submit designs to a contest to make the cover of a new CD of local music.
Following the Town of Minto’s inaugural Songwriters’ Challenge in the fall of 2014, eight winners were chosen to be featured on a CD entitled Music of Minto: Small Town. The Minto Cultural Roundtable is now calling artists within a 50-kilometre radius to enter their artwork into a contest for the cover of a CD that will feature the music of the eight challenge winners.
The winner of the CD contest will not only have their work featured on the cover of 100 CDs, but will also take home $125 cash, a membership to the Minto Arts Council and a $50 gift certificate for The Colour Jar in Durham, a prize package worth over $200. Second place is $75 and third place is $50. There is potential for the second and third place art work to be featured on the back cover of the CD case, or on the front of the CD.
Artists are encouraged to gear their designs towards the “Small Town” theme. The contest will be open until April 24, at 5pm.
